Rural Touring with Ninebarrow

'One of the fastest rising duos in the country'

Concerts in village halls and other rural venues always have something really special - a group of people, with a shared interest, supporting the arts in their local area. We've had some fantastic gigs in rural locations over the last few years and we've realised that they they offer a unique opportunity to collaborate in producing truly memorable evenings. If you'll indulge us for a couple of minutes - we'd love to try and convince you we fit the bill!

Are Ninebarrow actually any good?

We know that most promoters and organisers want to see an act live - up close and personal before considering a booking s here's a video that was filmed when we travelled to Ibiza to play at the fantastic 'Costa Del Folk' Festival in 2017!

What does and evening with Ninebarrow look like?

You've already heard what some of our music sounds like - but something that we're equally passionate about are the stories behind the songs. An evening with us isn't just an evening of great music - you'll get history, folklore, and storytelling as well. Not to mention - we'll supply any sound and lighting equipment needed to make the evening look and sound brilliant!

Alright! You sound good, but we STILL want a SOLID recommenation

We really understand this one. Promoters at village halls put a lot of thought into the shows they put on. We've been fortunate enough to have worked with 10 different rural touring schemes, and we've also been booked by hundreds of folk clubs, music venues and village halls as well as over 80 festivals in the past year or so. On the right, we've picked a few comments from critics, other performers and magazines we think might help convince you.

What do other touring schemes say?

We've worked extensively with Dorset Artsreach over the last year - not only as part of their touring programme but also by way of being commissioned to write a series of songs linked to their latest project: 'The Land of Bone and Stone'. They had this to say about us:

We've also toured with Carn to Cove, Villages in Action, Live and Local, Take Art, Rural Arts Wiltshire, Air in G and Night Our and references are available on request.

And what do promoters say?

St Peter's Church, Dunchurch

We were delighted with the evening spent with Ninebarrow. They proved a good attraction which helped us make a useful profit but there was far more value to their visit than that. Their voices in harmony are lovely and the standard of musicality is very high. They sang a range of songs from their albums, from the hauntingly beautiful to the toe tapping cheerful. They proved very engaging personalities with amusing and interesting commentaries about the songs they were about to play. They had been very helpful and encouraging before the concert and it was a real pleasure to host them. They would be very welcome back here any time.

South Luffenham Village Hall, Rutland

We experienced the first night of Ninebarrow's recent tour - after a day of them traveling up from Dorset - and they were fresh, energised and gave a thoroughly polished performance. Their rapport with the audience was pitched exactly spot on with gently encouraged audience participation and personal anecdotes. The standard of musicianship was exceptional and the evening was over all too quickly. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a high quality yet personal evenings entertainment.

Coddington Village Hall, Newark

Ninebarrow played traditional folk songs, their own pieces and some covers and with every single song the harmonies were flawless. Their musical talents also showed their abilities to make folk music accessible to all and I could have listened to them for many more hours. An encore truly deserved  by this talented duo. I can honestly say that this was one of the best folk groups I have heard in a long time and I will certainly be finding where they are playing next and hope to listen to them live again soon.

St Francis Church, Tamworth

Ninebarrow performed to a sell-out house in St Francis Church, Tamworth. The audience was made up of a mixture of committed Folkies’ - some of whom had travelled to see them - and local people. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed as Jon and Jay shared the stories behind their songs, then transported us with beautiful vocals and wonderful harmonies. We would thoroughly recommend booking this class act.

North Nibley Village Hall, Gloucestershire

What a wonderful evening with visitors from near and far. Warmth, humour and cracking music from this really talented pair. Really professional organisation and superb promo material and advice. Can't recommend more highly.

What do audiences say?

See for yourself! These were just a few of the comments we received after a concert at a rural church concert we put on a few months ago:

If you fancy hearing an audience sing along with us - have a look at the video below too. It's one we filmed recently. You'll hear a bit of chatter between us and the audience too - and this is something we really think is important to any performance - it really helps to engage an audience who may not have seen us before.
