Hopefully this finds you all well and enjoying this little cold snap. It’s kind of nice to break out the big coats and scarves for a while…! What’s not been so great is Jon losing his voice…again. Combining full time teaching and lots of gigs seems to take its toll at this time of year.
We were absolutely gutted to have to pull out of supporting the incredible Chris Wood last Sunday. He’s on the mend though – so hopefully no more cancellations!!
It’s been a really busy month for us: we’ve really started breaking the back of the recording for the album and we’ve got 4 tracks finished already. It’s been such a lot of fun! We’ve transformed our spare room into a make-shift studio to lay down all of our vocal and instrumental parts and we’ve also been to St James’ Church in the Purbecks to do some recording ‘on location’! As well as that, we’ve had some amazing collaborative sessions working with Lee Cuff on cello (from Kadia – check ‘em out, they’re amazing!) and Jane Bridges from the Hobos morris side on violin. We’re SO excited about these tracks – and we cannot wait for everyone to hear them!
On that note – we’ve got a fantastic album launch planned on the 26th April 2014. It’s going to be held in the Studio @ Poole Lighthouse. And have we got a fab evening of music planned! You’ll hear all the material from the album, plus we’ve got support from the wonderful Kadia and the awesome Will McNicol. You can find details on facebook and on the Lighthouse website. Get your tickets now!
We’ve already got some pretty exciting news on the horizon for the festival season. The one bit of news we can currently share is that we’ve been booked for the 2014 Chippenham folk festival. We’ve got some more cool news we’ll hopefully be able to share with you in the near future. Watch this space!
Anyway – hope to see some of you out and about over the next few weeks. We’ll leave you with a list of our other upcoming gigs.
