Firstly: Happy New Year! And what lovely weather we’re having?? We hope you’re all well and haven’t had to resort to sand bags at the front door…
You’ll be pleased to hear that we’ve been hard at work with our first full-length album: While the Blackthorn Burns. In fact, we’re pretty much done! It feels like years since we first wrote our prospective track list back in October. Since then we’ve had a brilliant time collaborating with some of our favourite local musicians (check out teh pic of KAdia's Lee Cuff!) who have added their magic touch to a few of our tracks. We really can’t wait to share it with you, so we’ve put one of our tracks up on ReverbNation for your delectation!
As well as recording our favourites, we’ve also been putting together a few new additions to our set – some traditional, some self-penned – to play for you over the next few months. We’re having a pretty quiet month in January, but we’ll be heading out to some of the many excellent folk nights in our area (Fiveways, Ringwood and Bournemouth to name but a few)
Our next gig will be supporting the amazing Blair Dunlop at the Wessex Acoustic night on Valentine’s Day (that’s Friday, 14th February) at the Blandford Royal British Legion. You do not want to miss this guy. We’re so chuffed that we get to support him. Head over to the website now to book your tickets! (£12 on the night, only £10 if you book in advance)
The 2014 Festival Season is also shaping up very nicely indeed (more details shall follow shorty) But let’s not get ahead of ourselves! Before then we have a headline gig at Bournemouth Folk Club on Sunday, 9th March, and our Album Launch Gig at the Lighthouse, Poole on Saturday, 26th April. We’d really, really love to see you at either (or both…?) of these gigs!
We’re working hard to make 2014 the best year ever; we hope you can make it out to see us soon!
All the best
Jon and Jay x
