What a few months it’s been!
The last time we put out a newsletter was just after the launch of ‘While the Blackthorn Burns’ – and it’s been pretty busy for us between then and now! The album launch was a really fantastic evening – the Kadia boys and Will McNicol really helped to make it an evening to remember. Thanks so much to everyone who came out to support us – and sorry to those who couldn’t get tickets.
We’ve just got back from a great weekend at Chippenham Folk Festival. 6 shows in 3 days is a new record for us…and it’s left us pretty shattered! We met some fantastic people, though – and played in some really stunning venues. And - we’ve got some other fantastic gigs coming up over the next month too: we’re off to France this weekend to perform in our first ‘international’ festival: Festival "Terre de Marins", in Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue. Then, we’re off to support the superb Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin at Bradninch Folk Festival near Exeter. And if those two weren’t exciting enough, we’ve also got the new ‘Behind the Castle’ Festival, the Folk 21 Showcase @ Wimborne Folk Festival as well as a show supporting Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston at Folk on the Quay in Poole. It’s all systems go!
So what else is new…? Well – a track from the album was played on the Mike Harding Folk show the other week. And what did Mike have to say? “I've had lots of requests for this next duo...Beautiful, lovely feel to this. I love it." So...we were pretty chuffed with that!! You can listen to the show here.
Not only that – but Folk Radio UK kindly decided to post ‘The Sea’ on their SoundCloud page. In the last 13 days, it’s clocked up over 20,000 plays! Frankly – we still can’t quite believe it, to be honest! You can check out the latest stats here!
One final piece of exciting news we’ve got to share with you is that we’ve recently launched a new ‘House Concerts’ page on our website. Have you ever considered putting on an evening of live music in your own house?! Probably not! But – it’s entirely possible. Have a gander at this page to find out more information.
Well, that’s about it for now. Hopefully we’ll see you out and about over the coming weeks!
Lots of love,
Jon and Jay x
